Penne
of Albigensian
The origin of Penne
date from the beginning of humanity, when groups of people
settled in the throats limestones of Aveyron. The Castle
was built during the XIII°,now it remains only ruins
which overhang the village with the old paved lanes,
bordered of stone-built houses.
Drawn up on its narrow rock piton, Penne dominates the surrounding
countryside and forests.
A castle was
erected during the Merovingian's time. About 1140,
Templars have properties in the chatellery of Penne.
Several of them reside then in the parish of Holy Marie-madeleine
of Albis (where the cave of the Madeleine of Albis
in 1952 was discovered), on right bank of Aveyron.
If nothing attests that the castle was a templar's
possession , it is certain the lords of this place
were close to the temple, because this fortress protected
the way going from the valley to Montricoux.
